Exploring the World through Words

About Alex Distefano

For a quarter of a century, Alex Distefano has been at the forefront of print journalism, with a never-ending passion and emphasis on cannabis and heavy metal music. He is also a lifetime metalhead, foodie, aspiring stand-up comic, and an expert on conspiracy theory culture and cannabis.

With a prosaic style of words and a keen sense of imagery and details of a story, he can paint readers a picture with words. As a lifelong resident of Los Angeles, he has attended thousands of live concerts and shows. His words and photographs have been published in the Los Angeles Times, OC Weekly, LA Weekly, High Times Magazine, Culture Magazine, YRB Magazine, KNOTFEST, and more.

With at least a thousand published pieces in both online and print publications since 1999, Distefano is one of the last bastions of true and bonafide LA-based independent freelance journalists; a writer with an old-school style and a modern approach.

As an established and award-winning freelancer, Distefano also works as a substitute teacher and spent 15 years as a paraeducator for students with autism and other disabilities. Aside from his career as a freelance writer and stand-up comic, he is also an aspiring screenwriter.
